93% of children remained with their birth families by the end of the NB Programme.

(n=154/165)

90% of children who were on a care order, had no order in place by the end of the programme

(n= 18/20)

71% of families continue to access our Post Programme Support offer.

We have 13 active peer mentors facilitating group work sessions and CPD workshops for New Beginnings.

In 2021, a Cost Benefit Analysis showed that work carried out by New Beginnings with 12 parents and their 20 children had saved Stockport Social Care £670,000.

Testimonials from parents & professionals

I’ve enjoyed learning about who I am and where I am going. I have also learned where I’m going wrong with how I respond to professionals and this learning has had a big impact on my understanding of child protection. I don’t really enjoy being out of my comfort zone and talking to strangers so I wasn't looking forward to doing New Beginnings but I pushed through it and it’s working now for me and my children. The group now feel like extended family.

NB staff are creative and innovative in the ways they work with families and I personally feel that NB is a real bonus for Stockport, especially the way they work collaboratively with social workers as well as families. This programme is amazing and helps so many families not just during the programme but providing post programme support too, so that individuals feel they have support they can access even after NB ends.
