Post Programme Support Offer
Post-Programme Support
Recovery doesn’t end at 24 weeks. Our post-programme pathways help families stay connected, keep growing, and sustain positive change — with options that meet different needs at different times.
Peer Mentor Training & Volunteering
A pathway to give back and grow. Parents who’ve completed New Beginnings can train as peer mentors or volunteer at our drop-in—building skills, confidence, and community while supporting others on their journey.
Revive & Refresh
A chance to revisit core topics from your cohort—this time through the eyes of our children’s journeys. Short, focused sessions help you reflect on what’s changed, practise the tools again, and keep momentum going in a safe, supportive space.
SMART Recovery
A science-based, facilitator-led programme using tools from CBT and motivational approaches to support behaviour change. Build motivation, cope with urges, manage thoughts and feelings, and create a balanced life—with peers who understand.
Survivors
A mutual-support group for women who have experienced domestic abuse and/or violence from a partner or spouse. A confidential, non-judgemental space to be heard, rebuild safety, and connect with specialist signposting when needed.
Mum & Tots
A warm, baby-friendly group for new mums on new journeys. Gentle peer support, developmental play ideas, and a space for little ones to socialise— with feeding-friendly, judgement-free vibes throughout.
Happy Homes
Practical, compassionate support around squalor, hoarding, and home conditions. We work step-by-step on safety plans, routines, and small wins—alongside housing partners where needed—so home can feel manageable and calm again.
Peer Mentor Training & Volunteering
After completing the core programme, some parents choose to stay involved by supporting others who are just beginning their journey.
Our peer mentor training offers a structured pathway into volunteering, including boundaries, listening skills, trauma awareness and self-care. Mentors are always supervised by staff and never expected to “fix” things alone – they simply bring empathy, experience and hope.
Parents can also volunteer in our drop-in spaces, helping with welcome, refreshments, or practical tasks that keep New Beginnings feeling warm and human.
Revive & Refresh
Revive & Refresh is for parents who want to revisit key ideas from the programme once some time has passed.
Together we look again at themes like trust, safety, relationships and change – this time with the benefit of distance and new experiences. Parents are encouraged to think about how life has shifted, what has stuck, and where they might need a bit more support.
Sessions are short, focused and gentle, with space to share wins, challenges and “work in progress” without judgement.
SMART Recovery
SMART Recovery is a science-based programme that supports people to change unhelpful behaviours linked to substances, gambling and other challenges.
Using tools from CBT and motivational interviewing, SMART helps people build motivation, cope with urges, manage thoughts and feelings, and create a more balanced life.
At New Beginnings we connect parents into SMART groups so they can work on their own recovery alongside others who understand, with clear tools that fit alongside our wider work.
Survivors
Survivors is a mutual-support group for women who have experienced domestic abuse and/or violence in intimate relationships.
The group offers a confidential, non-judgemental space to share experiences, reduce isolation and rebuild a sense of safety and worth.
Alongside peer connection, we offer gentle psychoeducation and signposting into specialist services when this feels right for the individual.
Mum & Tots
Mum & Tots is a baby-friendly group for parents with little ones, especially those whose babies arrived during or after their involvement with services.
We focus on connection, play and real-life conversations about the highs and lows of early parenting after a difficult journey.
The space is feeding-friendly, judgement-free and relaxed – with simple activities, opportunities to notice your baby’s cues, and time just to be together.
Happy Homes
Happy Homes offers practical, compassionate support around home conditions, including hoarding, clutter and squalor.
We work alongside parents to break tasks down into manageable steps, agree realistic safety plans, and build routines that fit their real lives.
Where needed, we liaise with housing and other partners so that parents are not facing these conversations alone, and progress is recognised rather than ignored.
